Just over a week ago we had the Word of Life Superbowl in Charlotte.  It was an awesome night.  The best part was seeing 39 students respond to trust Christ as their personal Savior.  That never gets old!  With these results comes one major concern; are we getting these students plugged into follow-up, our youth group and ultimately our local church?  Here a 3 steps to making sure this happens:

  • Make a follow-up contact quickly - Within 24 hours of their decision, they should be hearing from you or someone on your leadership team who is ready to get them plugged in to follow-up.
  • Provide a follow-up plan - Idealy follow-up should happen on a one-on-one basis and therefore you should have a leader (of the same gender) who is willing to spend a couple of hours every other week and start the follow-up process with this student.  Use one of the guides in the Word of Life "Where do I go from Here" series to guide you on the path to great discipleship.
  • Share your expectations of youth group and church attendance with them immediately and help keep them accountable in this area.
When it comes to follow-up, time can be your enemy so don't let any more time pass before putting a follow-up plan in motion for your ministry.
